What is Iaido?

Iaido is a Japanese martial art that has a long history, dating back to about 450 years ago, from the Muromachi period. The founder of Iaido is said to be Hayashizaki Jinsuke Shigenobu.

In the first place, martial arts is a means of training one's mind and body through daily practice and training to elevate one's deity. It has a high spirituality that seeks peace. While it doesn't like fighting, it will fight thoroughly and won't hesitate to take the opponent's life if it's necessary.

In Iaido the sword is used only when the opponent becomes an enemy. Once it is pulled out, the enemy will be defeated for sure. In other words, it is a sword technique that decides the game with a single stroke of the sword without waiting for a moment against the enemy's surprise attack.
